Al fresco dining
There’s nothing better than eating and drinking outside when it’s warm, whether it’s a leisurely lunch, cosy dinner or just a drink, the town centre has sun traps and shady spots aplenty.
As well as the venues with well-known outside spaces, there are a number of hidden gems and new establishments to be enjoyed.
Did you know Mexican bar and restaurant, Sabrosa Del Fuego (previously The Boar’s Head), has a pretty, secluded courtyard garden? St Michael’s Church is the backdrop. What’s not to love?!
Tables and chairs are available outside the delightful Olyra Greek Bakehouse on Riverside Wharf – the perfect stop off to and from the train station.
Franco Manca and Cote on North Street both have attractive, spacious gardens to the rear as well as a few bistro tables on the pavement at Cote.
New Coffee Lab on South Street has street-side tables, ideal for some people watching. South Street Pantry’s revamped outdoor area with glass conservatory is a great space come rain or shine. And for a shady spot? Visit Cafe Thyme, conveniently located at The Dells between South Street’s shops and Jackson Square car park.
Free summer trail
Our bee-themed trail is ideal for families and continues throughout August. Pick up a leaflet from Bishop’s Stortford Library, Tourist Information or Jackson Square outside Smiggle.
Eleven bees are on display across the town centre. Your challenge is to find them all! Free pack of wildflower seeds available on completion of the trail – collect from the Enquiries Desk at the library.
