Recent Changes in the Car Parks

There’s been a few changes in car parking in Bishop’s Stortford recently, the brand new multi story at Northgate End has opened, with 573 long and short stay spaces and Link Road has become short stay only. The Causeway and Charringtons have now closed, ahead of the Old River Lane development. If you used to regularly use the Causeway we recommend Link Road, which is literally just across the road and is short stay, just like Causeway used to be. NEW Northgate End car park – now open
This new multi-storey car park has 573 spaces, including 31 disabled bays and 54 electric vehicle charging points. Short and long stay parking are available from 07:00 to 23:00 and there are two lifts and stairwells for quick and easy access to the town centre. Watch the video here to see the full tour.

Link Road car park
Just across the road from the recently closed Causeway car park, Link Road is a good alternative with 100 spaces of which two are blue badge bays. Please note: It is now short stay only – park for up to five hours.

Jackson Square car park
This short stay, multi-storey car park has 708 spaces, including 36 blue badge bays and designated parking for motorcycles. The cinema, restaurants and central shopping area are nearby. It closes at midnight so is ideal for parking in the evening.

Elm Road car park
A few minutes’ walk from the town centre, this long stay car park has 47 spaces. There is a short cut into town via a footpath (just past number 17) that leads to Half Acres. At the end of Half Acres, cross the road and turn right and then left into North Street.

Basbow Lane car park
This surface car park has 71 spaces – both long and short stay. Tucked behind North Street, it is ideal if you work in town or are visiting in the evening to enjoy one of the many centrally located pubs, bars and restaurants.

Apton Road car park
With 86 spaces – including two for blue badge holders and several designated motorcycle bays – this long and short stay car park is popular with shoppers and workers alike. It is a few minutes’ walk from South Street and close to Church Street Surgery.

Business Parking Permits

A limited number of shared use business parking permits are available in the B7 Chantry Resident Permit Parking Zone which is 5-10 minutes walk from the town centre. Visit East Herts Council website for details.
