Information For Young People

If you are 16 to 24 years old and in receipt of Universal Credit, you are eligible for the Kickstart Scheme. You can apply for a six-month work placement and you’ll receive the national minimum wage (or national living wage depending on your age) for a minimum of 25 hours per week. Your Jobcentre Work Coach can help you to enrol on the scheme. Find out more.

Information For BID Businesses

The Kickstart Scheme is a £2 billion fund to create new job placements for 16 to 24 year olds on Universal Credit who are at risk of long-term unemployment. Employers of all sizes can apply for funding which covers:

Employers can spread job start dates up to 31 December 2021. You will get funding until 30 June 2022 if a young person starts their job on 31 December 2021.

Further funding is available for training and support so that young people on the scheme can get a job in future.
