In the heart of the town, Jackson Square Shopping Centre with it's supermarket and multi-storey car park, offers a wide variety of retail opportunities under one roof. The Centre is currently undergoing major re-development to create an even better space for our community to shop, socialise and enjoy. TK Maxx will be joining the line up towards the end of 2024. Whilst works are underway, the all important Community Space, used for pop-up stalls, activities, events and classes, can be found next to Vision Express.

Florence Walk
Boutique Shopping Experience
This pretty, covered shopping arcade leads from North Street to the Waitrose car park. Florence Walk offers a delightful collection of shops, boutiques, cafés and salons, and is well worth a visit next time you're passing.
Anchor Street

Located close to the bus and train stations, visit Anchor Street for Bishop's Stortford's dedicated night club. Visit the boutique bowling alley complete with arcade games, private hire party rooms and some great food and drink options. Directly opposite is a members' gym and swimming pool for all your exercise needs.
Riverside Walk

Situated just off South Street, Riverside Walk is a small passageway with a selection of specialist shops, cafés and salons to discover. Pick up some house plants en route to Jackson Square car park, which is just two minutes away.
Market Square
Market & Dining
This central area is perfect for shopping and socialising. There's a selection of eating and drinking venues around the square itself, some with outside seating, and some interesting independent businesses including fourth-generation family jewellers. Stock up at the popular local bakery and traditional family butchers, and explore the market on Thursdays and Saturdays.
High Street
Independent Stores
Located between the Tourist Information Centre and St Michael's Church, the High Street offers a few independent stores, including a French cafe & epicerie, beauty salon and home & gifting store. It is also home to the beautiful old Tisserman's Building, now a drinks store for all your beer, wine and spirit advice ad purchases. On the corner of Basbow Lane is the town's police station which is open from 10am - 1pm every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Church Street
Situated off Potter Street, Church Street has some tempting food outlets and high street services. You can get your hair and nails done, then stop for lunch or coffee. It's easily accessible from Apton Road car park which is located at the end of the street.
The Dells
Cafe & Independent Stores
A walkway linking South Street and Jackson Square car park. Home to a small selection of shops and a café with outdoor seating, it is well worth stopping for a browse, or refuelling over coffee or lunch next time you are in town.
Devoils Lane
This quiet passageway, tucked between Potter Street and Bridge Street, is not to be missed. It's the place to go for children's shoes, second-hand books, frames and prints. Why not take a break from shopping at the beauty salon or popular café?
Bridge Street
Bridge Street leads from Castle Gardens up to the old Corn Exchange building. This historic street has an abundance of independent shops, including a salon, nail bar, fashion boutique and cafe. It is also home to two traditional pubs, The Star & Black Lion, dating back to the 16th century, plus an established home-ware store, selling everything you need for the house and garden.
Northgate End
On the edge of the town centre, but just a stone's throw from North Street, is Northgate End. Tucked behind Waitrose, you will find some well-established eating and drinking places, including takeaways, a men's and women's designer clothes store, car dealership and various healthcare practitioners and professional services.
North Street and surrounding area
Historic North Street is packed with interesting independent shops, eating establishments and essential services, ranging from estate agents and financial advisors, to various health and well-being providers to the beautiful Fordes home. Visit the brilliantly-stocked second hand book and music shop and enjoy a drink or bite to eat in one of the many cafes and restaurants. Have you explored the side streets? Sworders Yard, Water Lane and Barrett Lane are tucked away and offer some real hidden gems so be sure to take yourself off the beaten track.
