New ID Scanner for Water Lane

Posted: 10/01/2024

Water Lane Lounge and Cellar Bar is now up and running with a new ID scanner. The scanner was part-funded by the Bishop’s Stortford Business Improvement District (BID) as part of a wider initiative to keep people safe in the town centre’s night-time venues.

Water Lane’s management commented: “(The) team really appreciates the help and support from BID to keep the town safe. Our customer’s safety is extremely important to us. We also join other venues in town who already use the ID scanner and work together to provide safer nights out to Bishop’s Stortford residents and visitors. (In a short time) we have already seen positive results and would like to say a big thank you to all our customers for their understanding and co-operation”.

Upon arrival, it takes just 30 seconds to register a customer’s ID. As well as helping reduce anti-social behaviour, the ID scanner verifies the age of the person (Water Lane is an over 21 venue).

The BID added: “It’s great to see venues like Water Lane taking extra steps to ensure the safety of all of their guests. The BID were very pleased to be able to support the set up of the ID Scanner, and as we work towards achieving Purple Flag status for the town centre, this is a great example of what we can do working together for the good of the town and all who visit.
