Terms & Conditions
1. Promoter
The Discover Stortford Summer Shopping Promotion 2026 (“the Promotion”) is organised and administered by Bishop’s Stortford Business Improvement District (BID).
2. Promotion Period
The Promotion will run from Saturday 20th June 2026 until Monday 20th July 2026 inclusive.
Claims submitted outside of this period will not be accepted.
3. Eligibility
The Promotion is open to individuals aged 18 years and over.
To qualify for the Promotion, participants must spend a minimum of £40 with businesses located within the Bishop’s Stortford BID area during the Promotion Period.
The qualifying spend may be:
- A single transaction of £40 or more at one eligible business; or
Combined transactions totalling £40 or more across a maximum off five eligible businesses.
- Only purchases made between 20th June 2026 and 20th July 2026 are eligible. Bags must be claimed by 5.30pm on 20th July 2026.

4. Eligible Businesses
Only purchases made with businesses located within the Bishop’s Stortford BID area are eligible for inclusion in the Promotion.
The Promotion has been designed to support local businesses within the Bishop’s Stortford BID area.
- Eligible spend is based on in store spend not on line or click and collect orders
- Only businesses located within the Bishop’s Stortford BID area during the promotion period are eligible.
- Only bricks and mortar business spend is eligible
The following are not eligible:
- Businesses located outside the Bishop’s Stortford BID area
- Online-only retailers
- Purchases made outside of the Promotion Period
- Spend at market stall traders is not eligible
Bishop’s Stortford BID reserves the right to determine the eligibility of any business at its sole discretion.
5. Claiming Your Free Summer Shopping Bag
Participants who spend £40 or more in accordance with these Terms and Conditions may claim one exclusive Discover Stortford Summer 2026 Hessian Jute Shopping Bag.
To claim a bag, participants must present their original receipts at one of the following Bag Claim Points:
- Library, The Causeway (behind Jackson Square)
- Hays Travel, Jackson Square
- Hammond & Smith Estate Agents, Florence Walk
Receipts must clearly show:
- Business name
- Date of purchase
- Time of purchase
- Amount spent
All qualifying receipts will be stamped or marked at the point of redemption and cannot be used again for any future claim.
Each qualifying £40 spend entitles the participant to claim one bag.
Participants may claim a maximum of three (3) bags during the Promotion Period.
Each receipt may only be used once and by one individual.
Bags are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to availability while stocks last.
No cash alternative will be offered.
6. Receipt Validation
Bishop’s Stortford BID reserves the right to:
- Verify all receipts submitted as part of a claim
- Reject receipts that are damaged, illegible, altered, copied, duplicated or suspected to be fraudulent
- Request additional information where necessary to verify a claim
- The decision of Bishop’s Stortford BID shall be final in all matters relating to the Promotion.
7. Liability
Bishop’s Stortford BID accepts no responsibility for:
- Lost, stolen, damaged or illegible receipts
- Claims that cannot be processed due to incomplete information
- Circumstances beyond its reasonable control that may affect the operation of the Promotion
Bishop’s Stortford BID reserves the right to amend, suspend or withdraw the Promotion at any time if circumstances make this unavoidable.
8. Data Protection
Any personal information collected as part of this Promotion will be processed in accordance with applicable UK data protection legislation and used solely for the administration and evaluation of the Promotion unless consent has been provided for additional marketing communications.
