Vintage circus meets Covent Garden! In the daytime, you can expect circus performers, including jugglers, acrobats and stilt walkers as well as circus skills workshops, face painting and more! Live music, from The Jjarrs, a well-known and much-celebrated covers band from the area, and a fire performer, will keep you entertained through the evening.
Location & Setting
A road closure will be in place for the whole day, from the crossroads with Bridge Street/High Street, down to Water Lane, leaving 70 metres of North Street traffic-free for mooching, shopping, entertainment and food & drink options from our hospitality businesses.
The street will be dressed in colourful bunting. Communal seating areas will be made provided, including picnic benches and deckchairs. This will enable people to settle in with a takeaway from one of our many and varied hospitality businesses in the vicinity, and enjoy the atmosphere and entertainment.
In addition, 20+ vintage barrels will act as table tops and be dotted down the centre of North Street, adorned with festoon lighting for added atmosphere through the evening.
Future Plans
As well as providing an exciting event for the community, Showtime is an opportunity to trial the pedestrianisation of North Street and the relevant road closure and diversions. We aim to showcase the space as well as provide a much-needed gathering place and outdoor performance area for the town centre. In the longer term, the Business Improvement District (BID) strives to get the go ahead on regular weekend pedestrianisation of North Street, giving people a new and exciting reason to come to Bishop’s Stortford, benefiting you the residents, our businesses and visitors alike.
